More than learning Greek
Greek.school exists for families who want their children not only to learn the Greek language, but also to understand the inheritance that comes with it.
For Greek families living abroad, language is never just vocabulary. It carries memory, values, customs, faith, family life, and a sense of belonging. Our aim is to help children grow in their understanding of all of these together.
We do not seek to distance children from the countries in which they live. On the contrary, we want them to grow with confidence in the modern world while remaining connected to their Greek roots.
A concern many parents share
Many parents tell us the same thing: their children are growing up with less connection to their Greek heritage than they hoped.
They may hear the language, but not fully understand it. They may know certain customs, but not what they mean. Over time, the connection weakens.
We are here to help restore that connection with seriousness, warmth, and care.
Why we are different
There are many places that teach “Greek”. But for Greek families, Greek means much more than learning a few words or phrases.
It means entering into a living tradition. It means understanding the customs, thought, and values that shaped Greek identity across generations.
Our focus is on quality over quantity. We want children not only to speak Greek, but to begin understanding the deeper cultural and spiritual inheritance behind it.
That cannot be fully formed through an app alone. It requires living guidance, thoughtful teaching, and a human example.

Our ambition is not simply to teach children Greek. It is to give them a taste of wisdom, a sense of heritage, and an inspiration to aim higher.
Our educational philosophy
A Greek tradition of παιδεία
For us, learning Greek is about more than vocabulary and grammar. Greek has a much older and richer understanding of education: παιδεία — the formation and cultivation of the whole person through language, stories, family, culture, example and character. Greek.school draws inspiration from this tradition so that children do not simply study Greek, but develop a living relationship with the language and the civilisation, faith, history and family memories that it carries.
An important inspiration is Saint John Chrysostom. In his work On Vainglory and How Parents Should Bring Up Their Children — translated into English in 1659 as The Golden Book of St. John Chrysostom, Concerning the Education of Children — he gives particular importance to forming children from an early age, teaching through carefully chosen stories, adapting teaching to the child's understanding, returning to stories so that the child remembers and retells them, and involving the family in education. Greek.school seeks to bring enduring elements of this approach into a modern setting: beautiful Greek stories read together, conversation rather than rote learning, repetition without monotony, active participation, and parents and grandparents becoming part of the child's continuing relationship with Greek.
Who we are
Tradition, thoughtful teaching and modern tools
Greek.school was founded to create Greek-language and heritage education of an unusually high standard for children growing up outside Greece. Its educational outlook brings together the Greek tradition of παιδεία, the founder's experience of the Anavryta Model School, principles found in the educational thought of Saint John Chrysostom, contemporary language teaching and carefully used modern technology.
